Only official data. Every claim linked.
Verify Campus copies public lists from regulators, keeps the source link next to every fact, and marks anything we have not checked as "Not yet verified".
What we read
The current sources are listed here with the date we last read them (24 Oct 2026). University names are matched to the UGC list within the same state, and every match between a UGC-DEB entry and a university was reviewed by hand.
What we do not claim
We do not yet hold AICTE, NCTE, NMC, BCI or RCI approval lists, NAAC grades, NIRF ranks or AISHE codes. Where those matter, the report says so and links to the regulator.
Ads policy
Verify Campus is free and carries ads so it can stay free. Ads are labelled "Advertisement", sit outside the verdict, the forms and the PwD tools, and never affect a verdict. No institution can pay to be listed, removed or ranked.
Corrections
Nodal officers can send official approval orders through the Data Update Portal. Reports change only when the regulator's own data changes.
Loaded and not yet loaded.
When a check depends on a list we do not hold, the verdict says "Check with the council" and links to the official list, instead of guessing.

What the terms mean.
The words you see on a Verify Campus report, in plain language.
- UGC Section 2(f)
- UGC lists the institution as a university that can award degrees. Central, state and state private universities are listed under 2(f).
- Section 3 (deemed-to-be university)
- The central government has declared the institution a deemed-to-be university under Section 3 of the UGC Act. It can award degrees.
- UGC Section 12(B)
- The university can receive grants from UGC. This is about government funding only. It does not decide whether the degrees are valid, and most private universities are not under 12(B).
- Category-I and Category-II
- UGC's graded autonomy levels. Category-I universities have the most freedom, including running some online and distance programmes without fresh approval.
- Fake university
- An entity UGC has publicly declared is not a university. It cannot award valid degrees.
- UGC-DEB
- UGC's Distance Education Bureau. It approves online and distance programmes for each university and each academic session.
- ODL (distance) and online
- ODL means open and distance learning, usually with printed material and study centres. Online means the course is taught and examined online. Both need UGC-DEB approval.
- Entitled and recognised
- On UGC-DEB lists, an entitled university (Category-I) may run the listed programmes; a recognised university has approval for the period shown.
- AICTE
- The regulator for engineering, management, computer applications and similar courses in colleges. Universities set up by a Central or State Act do not need it on their own campus; deemed universities and affiliated colleges do.
- Professional council
- Bodies like BCI (law), NMC (medicine), PCI (pharmacy), INC (nursing), NCTE (teaching) and RCI (special education). Their approval is needed even when the university is real.
- NAAC grade
- A quality grade (A++ to C) from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council. Useful for comparing, but not needed for a degree to be valid.
- NIRF rank
- The Ministry of Education's yearly ranking of institutions. Not every university takes part.
- AISHE code
- The government ID number of a university (U-), college (C-) or standalone institute (S-). Scholarship forms on NSP ask for it.
- Territorial jurisdiction
- The area where a university may teach. State and state private universities may not run centres outside their own state.
- UDID card
- The national Unique Disability ID card. Most disability scholarships need it.
- Benchmark disability
- A disability of 40% or more as certified by a medical authority. Reservations and most scholarships use this limit.
- Equal Opportunity Cell
- The office every university must have to support students with disabilities and other disadvantaged groups.
